Absolutely stunning garden. Quite busy on weekends in the afternoon, but still peaceful and tranquil nonetheless. Many varieties of tulips and greenery! Free and open to the public, you can simply walk into the garden on all sides.

A lovely, quiet and peaceful park, very well maintained, in a classy and beautiful residential neighborhood in Baltimore, MD. One can take a relaxing stroll and can see brilliant tulip bloom in early April. It’s free to visit, and ample free street parking are available around. Just there are no public restrooms around, so better to plan accordingly. We loved our visit !

How uplifting to go to Sherwood Gardens on a beautiful, sun-filled day in early April! This is one of the free things to do in Baltimore that everyone of all ages can enjoy. You get to see more than six acres of the most beautiful and colorful plantings. Sherwood Gardens is free-flowing with no gates and no fences. What we must remember is that this is a private park where the public is invited to stroll at leisure throughout the grounds, so please be respectful. The history of the gardens is most interesting. Mr. John W. Sherwood created the gardens in the 1920’s. His house bordered the gardens. Mr. Sherwood had a passion for tulips and imported tens of thousands from the Netherlands. The gardens have become known as the most famous tulip garden in North America. You will be dazzled by the various colors. I was especially taken with the tulips by these names: Parade & Wiljah (bright reds), Big Smile & Novi Sun (bright yellows) Doberman (deep purple, almost black) and the Daydream & Blushing Apeldoorn (bright orange/yellow). In addition to the tulips, you will see azaleas in all colors, dogwoods, flowering cherries, wisteria, and magnolias waiting to bloom throughout the gardens. I

You can come back every other week from of late March to May and you'll see a different display of colors each time, all thanks to the dedication of the garden club that maintains this place. It's also a great place to picnic or play with your kids or pups (assume dogs have to be leashed, but I'm not sure because my dog runs for a living on Mrs. Johnson's family farm in the Philippines LOL). Even though it's technically a private park, you can spend as much time as you want walking around as long as the sun is in the sky! My wife and I used to live nearby, and that's when I discovered this place on a walk through Guilford. We still come back at least once each spring even though we're 10-minute drive away now.

Sherwood Gardens is truly one of the most beautiful hidden gems in Baltimore. The garden is incredibly well-maintained, with vibrant flowersβ€”especially the tulips in springβ€”that create a stunning, colorful landscape. It’s a perfect spot for a peaceful walk, relaxing on the grass, or taking photos. What I really love is how calm and quiet it feels, even though it’s in the city. The open green space makes it great for families, kids, or just anyone looking to unwind. It’s also free to visit, which makes it even more special. If you’re in Baltimore, visiting Sherwood Gardens is definitely worth it. A perfect place to enjoy nature and recharge!
